Lena Ott color director

Lena Ott was contemplating the complexities of color and light when she decided to turn her talent for art into a moving mosaic – hair. While gaining inspiration from colors seen in everyday life, Lena’s compulsion for the unique and commitment to perfection led her into the fashion and beauty industry in the mid-1990s.

From there Lena set off for the center of fashion and eloquence, New York City, where she joined the color team at Bumble and bumble in 2001 and learned balayage, or hand-painted highlights. Falling in love with the technique’s seamless beauty, Lena has managed to create her own distinctively cool, contemporary style of painting and convert her entire clientele of top models, celebrities and everyday people, out of foils and into painted highlights.

Since May 2008, Lena has collaborated with the team at ION Studio where she has taken on the position of Color Director.

Lena is a fresh, exciting, and original force within the fashion industry and her talent has led her from the salon to the runway where she has worked alongside Laurie Foley coloring models for the Marc Jacobs Fall 2007, Spring 2009, and Spring 2010 runway collections while also leading a team of talented colorists backstage at New York’s fashion week.

With an appreciation for art from John Singer Sargent to David Lachapelle and everything in between, Lena has transformed her inspiration from the legendaries to work she has produced for Harper’s Bazaar, Italian Vogue, ID, Self Service and V Magazine to name a few.
